Will the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 run a sump pump (1/3 hp to 1/2 hp)?

Check your pump. The Explorer 1000 v2 covers a 1/3 to 1/2 HP sump pump's running draw, but its 3000 W surge peak is under the 3200 W start Generac's chart gives a 1/2 HP pump.

Check: 45 min to 1.1 h

At 800 to 1,200 W running. Formula: 1,070 Wh x 0.85 / load W.

Starting3,200 W1/2 HP sump pump. Derived: 1050 running + 2150 additional starting watts in Generac's chart[3]

Our sources put a 1/3 to 1/2 HP sump pump at 800 to 1200 W running. The Explorer 1000 v2's 1500 W rating covers that, with a little left over for a light or two.

Starting is the harder test. Jackery lists a 3000 W surge peak. Champion's chart puts a 1/3 HP pump at 1300 W starting, which fits easily. Generac's chart lists a 1/2 HP pump at 1050 W running plus 2150 W additional starting watts, 3200 W in total, which is over the peak. Test yours before you rely on it in a storm.

Running nonstop, the 1070 Wh battery lasts about 45 minutes at 1200 W to a little over an hour at 800 W. Pumps cycle on and off with the water, so in most storms it lasts longer. The storm scenario page shows several duty cycles side by side.

The label on your pump gives its horsepower and amps. Enter its watts in the calculator to check your own numbers.

By the figures we have, yes. Champion lists 800 W running and 1300 W starting for a 1/3 HP pump, under the 1500 W rating and 3000 W surge peak.

How long does the Explorer 1000 v2 run a sump pump?

About 45 minutes to a little over an hour running nonstop, longer if the pump cycles.

Runtime calculator

Runtime (hours) = battery Wh x inverter efficiency / load W

Efficiency is the share of battery energy that reaches the outlet. Where the maker does not publish it we use 0.85. Average W is for loads that cycle on and off, like a fridge; leave it blank to use running watts. Starting surge assumes one motor starts at a time. How the estimates work.
